With the look this season being natural to show the inner beauty it got us thinking here at She Inspires about what brings about real natural beauty. Is it just about being born beautiful or is that more culturally based, what about what it takes to bring the inner beauty to the surface and beauty health? What are the age old beauty secrets that ring true across different lands and through out the centuries?
We came up with three key areas for beauty health that helps let skin, hair and eyes shine through with real natural beauty. It's all about your beauty health.
Eating to Beauty Health
Remember that old saying, "You are what you eat"? Well it's true, the vitamins, minerals and the nutrients that we need to eat each day necessary for cell renewal. With fresh and health cells our skin looks healthy, retains moisture and elasticity.
Eating antioxidant rich foods that fight free-radicals builds strong cell membranes for glowing skin are far more powerful than any beauty skin care product you can find because they work from the inside out rather than outside in.
Natural foods rich in vitamins, minerals and nutrients, and hence rich antioxidants, are more easily digested and put to work in the body than highly processed and fatty foods that clog our systems. Luckily the healthy choice foods are also some of the yummiest options such as berries with yogurt and dark chocolate!
The key vitamins for healthy, glowing skin are A, C and E - also great for warding off colds and flus so again, a win-win.
Another great natural food that's fantastic for healthy, beautiful skin is oily fish that are rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFA's). These oils are great for fighting inflammation of your body, improves your immune system and helps you to burn fat. Good sources of omega 3 are salmon, mackerel, herring, anchovies, snapper, bass, bluefish and trout. If you're not a fan of eating fish you can get vitamins with omega 3 essential fatty acids too.
So looking after our diet works both for our weight as well as for our natural beauty health - a win both ways. A great way to eat to beauty health is to get together your own list of favourite beauty recipes that can be part of your daily life. By just incorporating these beauty recipes into your weekly menu you will make it that much easier to consistently eat well.
Drinking to Beauty Therapy
Keeping your skin hydrated is essential to making it healthy and glowing. Often we think this means having to drink litres of water every day and for most of us, that just doesn't fit in with our life styles. But it doesn't have to be about drinking bottles of water, it does include a whole range of healthy drinks. When your skin is hydrated, so too is the rest of your body and organs for the best functionality and it shows.
Drinks like Green Tea are fantastic for getting valuable fluid as well as being rich in antioxidants and has been treated for centuries in many cultures for beauty and long life. White tea and black tea varieties are also great for keeping your skin hydrated
Fruit and vegetable juices are great for the fluids but keep in mind their high sugar contents. It's better to eat lots of fruit and vegetables each day than to drink lots of glasses of fruit juices.
Milk is a great drink with its calcium, minerals and vitamins as well as for its hydration ability. You can always jazz-up your milk with a low-calorie flavour!
Sadly alcohol dries out your skin and organs so doesn't count in what's good to drink for your skin. As a basic skin care rule, have one glass of water for every glass of alcohol so you can re-dehydrate. Vitamin B is also great to help re-dehydrate.
Coffee is a favourite for millions around the world but again, it is a fluid that needs to be drunk in moderation for what it does to our bodies. It might be made up of water but it isn't a friend to your skin.
The sugary fizzy drinks are full of sugar and while they might be fluid to count towards your daily fluid intake they do more harm than good for your body and natural beauty health.
The sporting drinks industry is now so focused on empowering athletes with their products they do count on the healthy side of the equation but like anything, keeping them in moderation will give you a much better result.
Water is still the best for keeping your skin and body well hydrated and healthy.
Exercising to Beauty Fitness
Having a healthy weekly exercise program is not only great for your figure but also for your natural beauty. Australia has a tradition of valuing the natural beauty, just look at the ideal of the beach beauty we've had since the 1930's - little make-up, healthy, strong, fit , fresh and natural. Little has changed in the last 80 years.
So a balanced exercise habit of walking, running, swimming, yoga, strength training or pilates keeps your body young, fit and healthy so you can look your best. It doesn't really matter too much what exercise you do - just as long as you get the blood moving and muscles working. Improving your blood circulation is great for improving cell regeneration for a glowing, healthy and vibrant look.
A great beauty secret is when your body is making better quality cells than the old ones they are replacing the overall effect is tremendous to how well and beautiful you look and feel.
So the real beauty shops are the local fruit and veg shop, especially in organic food aisles, the local gym and the tea shops. Win your own beauty pageant and be the most glorious beauty queen by eating well, drinking lots and enjoying being fit and strong and you'll love all the compliments you'll get for looking so wonderful!
