Chambourd Shine Awards
The joint efforts of fashion magazine Marie Claire and Chambord (black raspberry liquor), the Chambourd Shine Awards are one of the newest night of nights in the Australian Fashion world.

Supporting the emergence of new talent, the awards offer ten up and coming fashion designers the opportunity to showcase their outstanding talents and get their break into the fashion industry.

The event is judged by a panel of guest judges including such celebrated names as Kirrilly Johnston, Joe Farage and Charlotte Dawson.

The Chambord Shine Awards are open to any Australian designer aged 19 or older.

National Retailers Association

The NRA Australian Fashion Design Awards are one of Australia’s premier fashion competitions.

Now in its 28th year, the awards are the pinnacle event of an eight-day fashion festival presented by AMP Capital Shopping Centres around Australia.

The event attracts top fashion talent from across the nation and provides Australian fashion designers, fashion students and manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their talents to a national audience

Judges of the event include some of Australia’s most distinguished designers and in years gone by have included the likes of Jessika Allen, Designer of JETS, Ana Maria Escobar, Designer with Oroton and Akira Isogawa, Designer of Akira

United States of America

The Council of Fashion Designers of America

The annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA) Fashion Awards recognise the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the fashion industry and related arts.

Honouring Michelle Obama at the recent ceremony in New York for her contributions to the industry, the awards are also committed to nurturing the development of the American fashion industry’s future designers.

Nominations for each award category are submitted by the CFDA membership and select fashion retailers, press, and stylists, and ratified by the CFDA Board of Directors.

Awards are handed out across a range of categories with the most coveted being the Swarovski Awards for design excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessory design to honour emerging talent.

LA Fashion Awards

Forget New York, Los Angeles is the largest fashion district in the USA.

Established in 2005, the LA Fashion Awards recognises and celebrates the emerging talent, rising stars and leading brands of California fashion.

As one of LA’s premier annual fashion industry events it aims to increase LA’s profile as a global fashion centre, with awards presented to those designers who have impacted significantly on the domestic and global fashion marketplace in the last twelve months and enhanced the identity of LA fashion.

British Fashion Awards

Every November for almost 20 years now, the British Fashion Awards have been a highlight of the annual fashion industry calendar recognising the contributions of British designers, fashion creators and models to the international fashion scene, and celebrating designers at every level.

Winning a British Fashion Award is one of the ultimate accolades for a home-grown designer.

Renowned for discovering new talent every winner is one to watch - Katharine Hamnett, the first ever Designer of the Year, is still as influential a figure now as she was 25 years ago.

Winners are chosen by the British Fashion Awards selection panel which includes judges made up of an invited panel of industry experts together with the British Fashion Council’s Press Committee.

Scottish Fashion Awards

The Scottish Fashion Awards (in association with attract international fashion figures, designers, celebrities and dignitaries to celebrate Scottish fashion and style.

Held in Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s greatest landmarks, the awards feature a diverse group of rising stars and industry leaders who embody and shape the energy, creativity, and vision that highlights Scotland as a leading producer of innovative fashion talent.

Leading figures in style, renowned fashion directors and international fashion authorities have the challenging task of judging contenders who compete in a range of categories fighting it out for the most prized award of Scottish Fashion Awards Designer of the Year.

This year a new category of award was introduced - 'Scottish Graduate of the Year' to ensure that Scotland continues to produce some of the most exciting fashion talents.

MANGO International Fashion Awards

The “ el Boton” - MANGO Fashion Awards offers young designers throughout the world the opportunity to participate in an international Fashion Design competition.

The competition, which takes place every 18 months in a European location, has the support of the Catalan Government, and five of the most important Fashion Design Schools in Europe including The Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design (London); Institut Francais de la Mode (Paris), and Instituto Marangoni (Milan-Paris-London).

The aim of the awards is to support and promote the talents of up-and-coming fashion designers.

Famously chairing the Mango Committee in 2009 was the prestigious designer Oscar de la Renta, who announced the award winners after selection by a jury of each of the 5 supporting design schools.

In previous years, winners have taken home a substantial cash prize and won the opportunity to manufacture and sell their collections through appropriate MANGO outlets.

The Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards of the Netherlands

Now in its third year, the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards has evolved into an annual highlight for the Dutch fashion world.

Attracting worldwide attention from leading fashion professionals, the awards are aimed at promoting Dutch fashion on a national and international level, encouraging innovative design and developing the Dutch fashion industry.

Winners across three categories are decided by a jury comprised of a cross section of international fashion industry representatives. Last year’s winner, Monique Van Heist took out all three awards allowing her to develop her label and significantly expand her international reach.

European Fashion Award FASH 2009 - New Diversity of Germany

The European Fashion Award "Fash" has been presented annually since 2005 by the German Fashion Industry Foundation (SDBI). The goal of this non-profit foundation is to pioneer the promotion of talented young people.

In 2009, the new visionary concepts for 21st century fashion were explored under the motto ‘New Diversity’ with contestants tasked to create new, hybrid fashions.

The contest is open to talented design students of all disciplines who are currently enrolled at a Europe¬an college or fashion school.

A jury composed of internationally experienced experts from design, industry, marketing, media and commerce select the prize winners according to set criteria over two categories with winners competing for a prize pool of 10,000 euros.

createurope: The Fashion Academy Award

The competition createurope: The Fashion Academy Award was held for the first time this year.

The objective of the contest is to create links between European fashion schools and to promote lasting, active dialogue between students and teachers on a European and international level.

One of the chief instruments for establishing this network is the website, where all private and public fashion schools in Europe can present themselves.

A European jury made up of fashion journalists and designers select a maximum of 30 finalists from all of Europe who will then present their collections at a large fashion show in Berlin.

The eventual prize winners will be determined by a celebrity jury in three categories: Best Upcoming Designer Award, Best Avantgarde Award and Best Student Award.


World Fashion Awards

The World Fashion Awards ("WFA") are renowned as the best in the Russian fashion industry and the biggest fashion event in Eastern Europe.

Held annually in Moscow each year since 2008, the Awards take place during Russian Fashion Week (every April and October) which is famous for showcasing the best of international, Russian and ex-Soviet Union designers as well discovering new fashion talents.

The ceremony is broadcast worldwide by the World Fashion Channel which founded the awards in 2008. The channel’s global reach of over 1 billion viewers across Europe, Asia and the Americas offers contenders a unique opportunity to market their designs to a worldwide audience.

The Trash to Fashion Awards originated in1996 as part of an initiative to Keep (the awards locale) Waitakere Beautiful.

Based on the ethos of Recycle - Reuse - Reduce - Refuse, Trash to Fashion is an arts and cultural experience drawing together designers and audiences from throughout the country and internationally, and attracting participation from a variety of groups, cultures, and abilities including established and emerging designers.

The Trash to Fashion Awards has become New Zealand's largest recycled fashion providing contestants with the chance to design and create costumes out of recycled, inorganic and organic materials.

China International Fashion Design Grand Prix

China’s international Fashion Design Grand Prix is one of the biggest competitions of its kind in China.

Taking place in Wuhan, the eighth biggest city in China, student designers from across the world compete to win the most prestigious award for students in China's fashion industry - the "Golden Scissors Award".

Encouraging collaboration between students, designers, educational institutions and manufacturers, the awards provide an arena for students from around the world to showcase their talents and explore career opportunities in China's fashion industry.

Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest

The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest is part of Hong Kong’s World Boutique, a trade fair for fashion buyers on the lookout for premium items and designers' collections.

The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest features the creations of 16 new fashion designers from around the world competing for awards in the categories of casual street wear, contemporary daywear and party wear.

Also held concurrently with Hong Kong Fashion week in mid January the event is a premier showcase of fresh fashion talent.
