I love the idea of the Girl's Night In by the Cancer Council - get the girls together to have fun and raise money for research to fight cancer. It's simple, fun and something we can all do, no matter where we are in this big country of ours.

Just as age doesn't matter, nor does the size of the gathering doesn't matter either - whether it's a couple of friends or 20 girls. It's the coming together for positive change that makes the difference, just as every dollar raised makes a difference.

The fundraising idea is simple, as a group you all donate the money you would have spent on a big night out having a night in instead. You can also raise money in other ways as well, such as raffles, lucky door prizes and sponsorship.

Trivia nights are loads of fun. You can make up your own rules or find some online and have as many players as it suits. All of this over a bottle (or 3) of wine and you can end up with some really silly answers and be surprised by who actually knows quite a lot!

Finding questions for trivia nights is easily done with a simple Google search of trivia questions. You'll just need a Trivia Mistress to be in control of the questions and answers!

Jewellery Party

Have the girls around to play with a table full of jewellery! It's a great way to find out whether that stunning necklace suits you and to catch up with the girls. The added bonus for the hostess is she gets to test the jewellery against her wardrobe to see how easily the colours all go together.

Having a home show party works for a heap of products from sexy lingerie to Tupperware to jewellery. Any party plan business worth it's salt will have a fundraising option. Pamper Night

These a loads of fun, it's like the teenage sleep overs without the angst! Everyone brings over accessories, make up, nail polish and you get to try out new looks, get real feedback from the girls about what works and what doesn't and learn techniques from each other.

This is where you all bring clothes that you're ready to rehome - whether they're impulse buys still with the tags on or ones that have been worn only a few times. The trick is to have them all at a similar level of quality so everyone feels it's a fair trade. Chick Flick and Pizza Night

Get the girls around for some classic chick flick films, some pizza and wine and you'll be entertained for hours. You can theme the chick flick films by decade and make it a regular event - start with the best chick flick films of the 80's with movies like Dirty Dancing, Steel Magnolias, When Harry Met Sally, Pretty in Pink - I'm sure you can add at least 5 of your own. We might be all types of different cooks but we do all have a recipe that we're particularly good at. So have a gathering where everyone brings along a dish that all can enjoy. It's a great twist on the traditional bring a plate and there's bound to be different dishes from entrees to mains to deserts.

High Tea Party

Speaking of desserts, what about a High Tea party for all the sweet teeth girls out there? Each brings a home-made dessert in bite size portions so it's easy to eat and you try different teas. You can a great range of samples of teas from tea shops like T2. Specialty tea shops are in shopping centres as well as your local independent shopping strip. Alternatively you can have each other bring along their favourite tea or coffee to share.
